It is to be noted that Microsoft Office apps have been available to Mac users for a long time now, however, prior to this, they were forced to download the apps from Microsoft's website, which was an issue as most users prefer to just download apps from the App Store. Now, users will be able to download the Office apps from the Mac App Store, making it easier to download and use.
The bundle includes six apps from Microsoft – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote and OneDrive. While these apps are free to download, you will need Office 365 Subscription to even use the basic features in most apps. Another benefit of this is that Office apps will be automatically updated through the app store and users will not have to use Microsoft's AutoUpdate tool to update their Office apps anymore.
Users will be able to avail a free 1-month trial of Office 365, after which, they have the option to choose from Office 365 Personal at $69.99 a year or Office 365 Home at $99.99 a year. While Office 365 Personal is for a single user, Office 365 Home allows for up to six users on PC or Mac. If you subscribe with either of the plans, you will get 60 minutes of skype calls per month, and an additional 1TB of OneDrive storage per user.
